In 2012 new itineraries apply in Galapagos
The Galapagos National Park Service (GNPS) has informed that from February 01 2012 on all cruises in Galapagos have to implement a new system of 15-day itineraries in order to control the frequency of visits and number of travelers who visit the determined sites in the Archipelago. The communication also points out that the arrival and departure of passengers is limited to four times during every two weeks of operation.
The GNPS has established these new frequencies on the base of a new system of itineraries in order to implement the balanced use of all touristic sites and guarantee the conservation of the ecosystem and the satisfaction of the visitors through a responsible and technical management of the protected areas, with the sole objective to promote the Ecuadorian proposal of “Responsible Tourism”.
